It was a slow and steady climb towards stardom for the January 1 born actress Vidya Balan. This Capricorn star did her schooling from St Antony's School at Chembur and graduated in Sociology from St Xavier's College. She has come in from the world of ads and music videos, before the big opportunity came her way. After modeling in the Surf Excel advertisement, she appeared in more than 25 ad films like Ponds, Bajaj among others.
From commercial ads she went on to music videos for Euphoria, Shubha Mudgal, Pankaj Udhas. She started her acting career with the Silver screen with Ashok Pandit's Hanste Khelte and Ekta Kapoor's Hum Paanch. It was filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra that gave her, her first break with Parineeta, a great success that won her the Best Actress Award. With Lage Raho Munnabhai, Heyy Baby, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and her Kismat Konnection made her of the most promising actresses of the industry.
